Mr. Maasen is licensed to practice law in all courts in Arizona and California and is admitted to practice in the Federal District Court as well as the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Maasen is currently a member of a number of professional organizations, including; the Arizona and California Bar Associations, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, and the Maricopa County Bar Association. Douglas A. Schwab, Managing Attorney
Mr. Schwab was admitted to practice law in Arizona in 1998. He is also admitted to practice in the United States District Court, District of Arizona. Mr. Schwab is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and Arizona Attorneys for Criminal Justice. He practices exclusively in the area of criminal law and worked as a major felony prosecuting attorney at the Maricopa County Attorney's Office. He has lectured and instructed police officers and prosecutors in Domestic Violence investigation and prosecution. For the last several years, Mr. Schwab has practiced exclusively as an Arizona criminal defense attorney. In addition to his supervisory role, Mr. Schwab also handles high profile and complex criminal cases (In the Media). He has handled a variety of cases including, but not limited to, misdemeanor and felony DUI's, sale and possession of drugs, child abuse, sex assault, attempted murder, fraud and theft, probation violations, and aggravated assaults. Kurt M. Altman
Prior to his service to the United States Department of Justice, Kurt spent several years as a Deputy Maricopa County Attorney where he became a veteran of many high profile homicide, violent crime and DUI trials. Kurt is a member of both the Arizona and Colorado State Bars and is admitted to practice in Federal District Court and the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, where he has appeared and argued matters that he handled in District Court.
Kurt has been featured in the media both locally and nationally: The Arizona Republic, Phoenix New Times, CBS's 48 Hours "Reasonable Doubt", A & E's American Justice "A Deadly Dose", and in People Magazine.
Jay F. Brown
Mr. Brown worked as a Prosecutor for several years where he handled thousands of DUI and motor vehicle cases. As a prosecutor he gained extensive litigation experience, motion practice, and won numerous jury trials. Mr. Brown now practices solely as a Phoenix DUI attorney handling criminal and DUI defense, and aggressively defends clients faced with serious misdemeanor and felony charges. He is specially trained in the areas of Toxicology, Traffic Accident Reconstruction, Drug Recognition Evaluation and field sobriety testing, and attends frequent seminars to maintain his expertise in these fields. Mr. Brown has instructed specialized courses in DUI and criminal education for Statewide Conferences.
Tait D. Elkie
Mr. Elkie, who is licensed to practice as an attorney in Arizona and is also admitted to appear before the United States District Court, District of Arizona, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, has been practicing as a Phoenix DUI attorney and other criminal defense attorney for the past five years. In addition, Mr. Elkie is a member of Arizona Attorneys for Criminal Justice. Before becoming an attorney, Mr. Elkie was a licensed private investigator and worked closely with defense counsel in the investigation of their client's cases. Presently, he donates some of his time as a volunteer mediator with the Maricopa County Justice Courts, and he also teaches in the areas of criminal law and procedure at the University of Phoenix. Paul A. Ramos
Mr. Ramos is a Certified Criminal Law Specialist through the Arizona Board of Legal Specialization and is also a member of the Criminal Law Advisory Committee. Mr. Ramos is qualified to practice in all Arizona State Courts as well as the United States District Court. He has been a member of the American Bar Association, Arizona Attorneys for Criminal Justice and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Mr. Ramos has conducted over 80 trials including charges of Capital Murder (death penalty), second degree murder, manslaughter, child molestation and sexual abuse. Mr. Ramos has also handled high profile media cases which have received both local and national media coverage. Mr. Ramos received training from the National Institute of Trial Advocacy, the Institute for Criminal Defense Advocacy and the Fifth International Conference of the National Child Abuse Defense and Resource Center. Mr. Ramos has also instructed at the Maricopa County Public Defender Trial Advocacy Skills College and lectured at the college level in the areas of substantive criminal law and criminal procedure.
