Scott Maasen

Arizona Criminal AttorneyScott Maasen is an honors graduate of Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona. Mr. Maasen received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science in 1993. While at ASU, he served as the student body president from 1992-1993. Mr. Maasen then received his Juris Doctorate Degree from California Western School of Law in San Diego, California. Prior to becoming an Arizona DUI defense attorney, Mr. Maasen worked as a DUI prosecutor for Maricopa County, and also worked for a local Maricopa County judge before starting his DUI and criminal defense firm in 2000.

Mr. Maasen is licensed to practice law in all courts in Arizona and California and is admitted to practice in the Federal District Court as well as the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Maasen is currently a member of a number of professional organizations, including; the Arizona and California Bar Associations, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, and the Maricopa County Bar Association.

Mr. Maasen has represented clients in all aspects of criminal law, including numerous misdemeanor and felony cases. Mr. Maasen is an experienced and skilled trial attorney and has been lead counsel in over 55 jury trials. Mr. Maasen is a member of the Scottsdale Bar Association.

Douglas A. Schwab, Managing Attorney

Arizona Criminal Defense LawyerDoug Schwab is a graduate of the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Media Arts with minors in Communication and Journalism in 1995. Mr. Schwab attended Southwestern University School of Law in Los Angeles, California earning a Juris Doctorate Degree. While in law school, Mr. Schwab received the CALI Excellence for the Future Award for nationally recognized academic achievement in Civil Rights and Civil Liberties.

Mr. Schwab was admitted to practice law in Arizona in 1998. He is also admitted to practice in the United States District Court, District of Arizona. Mr. Schwab is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and Arizona Attorneys for Criminal Justice. He practices exclusively in the area of criminal law and worked as a major felony prosecuting attorney at the Maricopa County Attorney's Office. He has lectured and instructed police officers and prosecutors in Domestic Violence investigation and prosecution.

For the last several years, Mr. Schwab has practiced exclusively as an Arizona criminal defense attorney. In addition to his supervisory role, Mr. Schwab also handles high profile and complex criminal cases (In the Media). Kurt M. Altman

Arizona Criminal Defense LawyerKurt is a graduate of Wake Forest University School of Law, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. During almost 13 years of practice in Arizona, Kurt has been lead counsel in literally hundreds of felony jury trials in both State and Federal Courts. Most recently, Kurt spent six years at the United States Attorney's Office for the District of Arizona as an Assistant United States Attorney leading investigations and conducting trials in Federal District Court. As a member of the Department of Justice he was awarded the Director's Award, the highest honor bestowed upon Department of Justice, by Attorney General John Aschcroft for his efforts in the first capital prosecution in Federal District Court in the State of Arizona. In addition, he has twice received the Federal Bureau of Investigation Director's Award for his tireless efforts on behalf of FBI conducted investigations. Kurt has also been trained as an FBI Special Agent at the FBI's training facility in Quantico, Virginia, where he spent 16 weeks learning FBI investigation techniques. Because of his unique background, Kurt has been a featured lecturer and teacher at the National Advocacy Center, the Department of Justice's training facility for Department attorneys and investigators. Kurt has been able to share his wide experiences with Department of Justice personnel from around the country.

Prior to his service to the United States Department of Justice, Kurt spent several years as a Deputy Maricopa County Attorney where he became a veteran of many high profile homicide, violent crime and DUI trials.

Kurt is a member of both the Arizona and Colorado State Bars and is admitted to practice in Federal District Court and the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, where he has appeared and argued matters that he handled in District Court.

Kurt has been featured in the media both locally and nationally: The Arizona Republic, Phoenix New Times, CBS's 48 Hours "Reasonable Doubt", A & E's American Justice "A Deadly Dose", and in People Magazine.

Jay F. Brown

Arizona Attorney Defense DuiJay Brown was admitted as an attorney in the State of Arizona in 1998, after earning his law degree from Southern Illinois University, School of Law, in May 1997. He previously received his Bachelors in Science (B.S.) in 1989 and then obtained a Masters in Science (M.S.) in 1993, both from Southern Illinois University, College of Engineering & Technology.

Mr. Brown worked as a Prosecutor for several years where he handled thousands of DUI and motor vehicle cases. As a prosecutor he gained extensive litigation experience, motion practice, and won numerous jury trials.

Mr. Brown now practices solely as a Phoenix DUI attorney handling criminal and DUI defense, and aggressively defends clients faced with serious misdemeanor and felony charges. He is specially trained in the areas of Toxicology, Traffic Accident Reconstruction, Drug Recognition Evaluation and field sobriety testing, and attends frequent seminars to maintain his expertise in these fields. Tait D. Elkie

Arizona Dui LawTait D. Elkie is a 2002 graduate of California Western School of Law in San Diego, California. Prior to law school, Mr. Elkie graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelors of Science in Justice Studies. Before attending college, he served in the United States Marine Corps from 1989 to 1993. While in the Marines, Mr. Elkie attained the rank of Sergeant and participated in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, and also Operation Restore Hope in Somalia.

Mr. Elkie, who is licensed to practice as an attorney in Arizona and is also admitted to appear before the United States District Court, District of Arizona, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, has been practicing as a Phoenix DUI attorney and other criminal defense attorney for the past five years. In addition, Mr. Elkie is a member of Arizona Attorneys for Criminal Justice. Before becoming an attorney, Mr. Elkie was a licensed private investigator and worked closely with defense counsel in the investigation of their client's cases. Presently, he donates some of his time as a volunteer mediator with the Maricopa County Justice Courts, and he also teaches in the areas of criminal law and procedure at the University of Phoenix.

Paul A. Ramos

Arizona Dui LawPaul Ramos graduated from Arizona State University in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Justice Studies. Mr. Ramos attended the Arizona State University College of Law and earned his Juris Doctor in 1991. Mr. Ramos has enjoyed a criminal defense career spanning over 14 years.

Mr. Ramos is a Certified Criminal Law Specialist through the Arizona Board of Legal Specialization and is also a member of the Criminal Law Advisory Committee. Mr. Ramos is qualified to practice in all Arizona State Courts as well as the United States District Court. He has been a member of the American Bar Association, Arizona Attorneys for Criminal Justice and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

Mr. Ramos has conducted over 80 trials including charges of Capital Murder (death penalty), second degree murder, manslaughter, child molestation and sexual abuse. Mr. Ramos has also handled high profile media cases which have received both local and national media coverage. Mr. Ramos received training from the National Institute of Trial Advocacy, the Institute for Criminal Defense Advocacy and the Fifth International Conference of the National Child Abuse Defense and Resource Center. Mr. Ramos has also instructed at the Maricopa County Public Defender Trial Advocacy Skills College and lectured at the college level in the areas of substantive criminal law and criminal procedure.
