Arizona Driving Drunk DUI LawIt is a sad fact that many people end up with their licenses taken away, hefty fines and even in prison for the small offence of driving while slightly under the influence. This is often a result of people not being familiar with Arizona drunk driving (DUI) law, and they make mistakes when they are pulled over that eventually lead to a conviction. Whether you have only had a few drinks or you are driving while heavily intoxicated, you can significantly reduce your sentence if you follow the advised procedures and enlist an attorney who is highly knowledgeable in Arizona drunk driving (DUI) law. Making simple errors when pulled over can result in information or confessions you unwittingly give out at the scene being used against you in a court of law, and this can undermine even the best defense attorney’s case. However far over the limit you are, remember that you can always get a reduced sentence if you behave properly. The most important part of Arizona drunk driving (DUI) law is that it is just like any other crime. You should behave accordingly, and the arresting officers must also do so. Remember any mistreatment by the officers as this can lead to a reduced sentence if it finds its way to court. Before this, however, remember that you have the right to remain silent. This right is in place for a reason! It is to stop people from inadvertently confessing or admitting to knowing something that can damage their case. If you are pulled over for driving under the influence your offense will fall under two categories: Regular DUI and Extreme DUI. Regular DUI is anything under 0.15 blood alcohol content, while extreme DUI is anything over this. The best way to make sure that you stay in the regular bracket – apart from not drinking as much – is by remaining calm and co-operating with the officers on duty. Arizona drunk driving (DUI) law states that any aggravation by a drunk driver can be added as additional charges due to the nature of the crime. If you have been pulled over, remember to remain in your car until the officer arrives, and wind down your window. Be honest, stating that you had had a few drinks that evening, and co-operate when asked to take a chemical sobriety test. This may include a breath test or a blood test, but other tests are not required by Arizona drunk driving (DUI) law and you have no obligation. Failing to submit to a chemical test is allowed, but you will be recorded as failing to submit, and this will create a strong case against you in court. emember that the most important thing is to remain calm if you are pulled over for driving under the influence. Arizona drunk driving (DUI) law punishes first time offenders severely, and repeat offenders very harshly. So be careful – don’t drink and drive.
